I’m very concerned about our police and the safety of our city.  We passed Measure M and for some reason many people feel extremely upset about the layoffs of 12 police officers.  Why did we have to do this when we passed this measure to put 30 more officers on staff?  That”s what they promised us and that’s what I intend to remedy.

While we endured the layoffs crime  in certain areas have decreased and violent crimes have increased and people are upset that we have less police on our department.  This gives the impression we are less safe and vulnerable to more problems with criminals being let out of prisons due to budget constraints and over-crowding and surrounding police agencies laying off their officers. 

In a nutshell my plan is to bring back officers where we need to be at levels we paid for.  I plan to bring back the entire gang unit and investigations to fight crime and our increasing element of gangs in our city.  This is getting out of hand and we need to take care of business. 

We have to honor our citizens by doing what is right and while in office I intend to attempt to bring forward the most strict laws possible against those who conduct their criminal activities in our city.  We have laws, but many of them are too soft on crime and we need to make it so hard for the criminals they will want to go somewhere else.  It’s that simple.
