MANTECA, CA – Official Release
Manteca is my home. We are the “Family City”. I love Manteca!
After moving to Manteca I became actively involved, participating in many important areas. The generosity of the people is what makes Manteca such an outstanding place to live.
I had originally decided to run for Mayor of Manteca in 2010, to become a voice for the people on the City Council, rather than just another vote. This year we are fortunate to have 5 well-qualified candidates running for Mayor.
I have carefully considered this. After much thought and prayer, and feedback from citizens who support me, I have decided to change my position from Mayoral Candidate, and instead offer you another positive voice on the City Council.
In the past two elections of 2006 and 2008, I personally walked the streets of Manteca, visiting 100’s of homes. I’ve seen first hand how these last 2 years have devastated lives and families. Many Mantecans are experiencing very hard times. Many people are out of work, houses are being foreclosed, and our out-of-control legislatures are laying heavy taxes on families and small business owners.
We need to send a clear and decisive message to all our representatives that we are going to hold them accountable for their actions. They need to truly represent the people, and get our country back on the right track.
I first ran for City Council in 2006 because I saw where our city was headed. I warned of the housing crash.
In 2008 I continued to press on, because I was concerned about how we were giving away our strategic advantage to developers, and losing out on tremendous returns on our investments. I was concerned about our city debts, and the health and safety of our city regarding police and fire.
I’m also concerned about the welfare of our RDA funds, our over-spending, how we are going to ensure complete transparency, and perfect audits. There are many more topics of importance we need to address. I have a list of top priorities to help move Manteca forward and not squander our tax dollars.
For me, it’s not about the position of Mayor, but rather serving the community. That is why I am now running for City Council. My campaign is about the people. It’s about our finances and security. It’s about getting it right by bringing our city into the future with technology, more transparency, an end to confusion, and a team-player attitude.
I look forward to this upcoming election! I hope to give the power back to the people!
Sincerely,
Samuel Anderson
